It is not intended to limit anyone’s chances of employment by issuing certificates in this manner. Employers do however tend to use the candidates experience as a key factor in making a selection for an ROV team. This can limit some individuals from gaining work on other systems in which they have little experience.
MTCS Ltd continue to stress to operating companies that the candidates have been assessed in a wide range of technical and operational skills that are transferable between different ROV systems. It is in the industries best interest to ‘multi-skill’ personnel and encourages individuals to gain experience in a variety of different systems. The competence scheme therefore provides a ‘benchmark’ for measuring the technical and operational skills of all ROV/Plough personnel.
